Quadratic Mathematical Modeling of Sustainable Dry Beneficiation of Kaolin

Clay minerals are one of the most utilized among non-metals. These hydrous aluminum silicates with a layer (sheet-like) structure. Kaolin is aluminosilicate mineral thin platelet extensively used in paper, paint, and many other industries. Wet processing kaolin will not be sustainable over long term because global freshwater resources becoming scarce. Hence, process necessary that does consume water during beneficiation kaolin. This study developed dry for low-grade 59.6%, 12% quartz about 6% titaniferous impurities from Nagar Parkar, Sindh province, Pakistan. To develop size difference between kaolinite impurities, steel balls clad rubber were as grinding media selective unit. Screens 60 400 mesh employed to classify feed air classifier. Oversize +60 was reground, fractions sent an classifier, −400 considered product grade recovery 90.6% 20.5%, respectively. Air classifier experiments designed using central composite design. An experiment fan speed 1200 revolutions per minute (rpm) shutter opening 4.0 showed optimum results, maximum 91.5% 35.9%, The statistical models predicted results at 1251 rpm 3.3 91.1% 24.7%, differences experimental 0.1% 2.4%, characterization total upgrade 59.6% 91.2%, 27.1% process. methodology has potential improve yield by focusing on its recovery. Furthermore, can improved different sized utilize more than series achieve targeted results.
